What safety measures are you taking concerning Covid-19?

Is there social distancing at the Kosher Chocolate Factory?

Yes. Each group or family are assigned a table. Supplies are set up and provided on each table to avoid contact and to enforce social distancing throughout the workshop.

Is wearing a mask mandatory at the Kosher Chocolate Factory?

Yes. Wearing a mask is required at all times. Children ages two and under are not required to wear masks.

What are the Kosher Chocolate Factory’s hours of operation?

The Kosher Chocolate Factory is open Sunday-Friday, and there are two sessions each day. The first workshop, Chocolate from Scratch, begins at 10:30 a.m., and the second workshop, Truffle-Making, begins at 12:30 p.m. If a workshop fills up, we will open a second one (Chocolate From Scratch at 2:30 p.m., and Truffle-Making at 4:30 p.m.).

Where are you located?

The Kosher Chocolate Factory is located at the Simcha Education Center in Gaithersburg. The facility still bears the silos of the historic Garret Farm. The address is 15021 Dufief Mill Rd, Gaithersburg, MD 20878, at the corner of Darnestown and Dufief Mill Roads, and is about a 2-3 minutes drive from Shady Grove road.

Do bookings need to be made in advance?

Reservations need to be made in advance. Due to Covid-19 regulations, we are only able to accommodate a limited number of families per session. Click here to make a reservation.

How many workshops take place each day, and what are the times?

There are currently two sessions each day. Program One, Chocolate from Scratch, begins at 10:30 a.m., Program Two, Truffle-Making, begins at 12:30 p.m. On Sundays, there are two programs of each session. Click here to check availability and to make a reservation. If there is demand for more workshops, we will more session available. Keep checking for updates!

How long is each workshop?

The duration of the Chocolate from Scratch workshop is an hour, the duration of the Truffle Making workshop is approximately 90 minutes.

Up to how many members may be booked per family/group booking?

One group or family booking can accommodate up to eight people. If your group exceeds this number, simply make two (or more) reservations!

What ages are recommended for the Kosher Chocolate Factory?

Program One is primarily geared toward children aged 3+. Program Two is primarily geared toward older children ages 8+ and adults. We welcome kids of all ages and adults, too!

Is there a fee for toddlers?

There is no charge for children ages 0-2.

Is the Kosher Chocolate Factory a safe enviroment?

Your children will be safe at the Kosher Chocolate Factory, there are no dangerous machines or elements.

Is there parking available?

Yes, there is a parking lot outside the facility.

What is the goal of the Kosher Chocolate Factory?

JCrafts seeks to brings mitzvot to life through innovative and hands-on workshops, and infuse century-old festivals and customs with excitement and meaning. The goal of the Kosher Chocolate Factory is to educate children with edible aspects of Jewish life: Kosher eating, traditional holiday treats, blessings on food and cuisines that have been influenced and shaped by the places all across the globe where Jewish people once lived.  And as they do, they will be inspired to be more thoughtful and curious eaters.

Is the Kosher Chocolate Factory nut-free?

Products used at the workshops do not contain nuts as an ingredient. However, some products are manufactured on the same equipment that processes nuts.

What is the Kosher Certification?

The first workshop, 'Chocolate from Scratch', is Pareve, and the products used in this track are under the OK Kosher hashgachah. Items used in the second workshop, Truffle Making, are mostly dairy. The chocolate and fillings are Chalav Yisrael. The chocolate itself is Badatz Yerushalayim, and the fillings are under (Rabbi B'tzalel) Klein and the likes. All product packaging are stored on-site and may be viewed upon request.

YES! An overflowing box of mouth-watering chocolates!
