This workshop ignites within the students an excitement and an appreciation for Shabbat, enabling them to come away with a new, improved impression of this special day.
Participants delve into the full and fragrant history and method of wine-making, focusing on ritual uses of wine in Jewish tradition. Participants select grapes and place them into a grape crusher. After crushing the grapes, the grapes are placed into a wine press to extract the remaining juice. The juice is then filtered and poured into a carboy or barrel for storage. The entire process is done in an interactive manner, where the students are a part of the wine making experience. To top it off, the children design beautiful Kiddush cups or Challah covers, which ensures that the message of Shabbat really and truly stays with them.
